Why a good looking CV is important for your next Teaching job & how it should look like

Whether you are applying for a job for the 1st time or you are planning to change or job or career, having a good looking & professional CV will make you stand out from your competitors.

Most often fresher’s who are applying for a teaching job or any other job for the first time neglects the importance of a good looking CV. They think that CV is something that only has some information related their personal life and academic performance. But a CV is much more than that, it can make or break your job application. CV is a key deciding factor for getting the interview call.

According to statistics, 47% of candidates get rejected for a job interview is only because of a bad looking CV.

So, how can you make a professional looking CV for yourself. Let us first understand the key components of a CV and what are some of the things to keep in mind while making one for yourself. CV normally has 4 type of information –

  1. Personal Information
  2. Work Experiences ( if not a fresher )
  3. Academic qualifications ( with year of completion & marks scored )
  4. Hobbies & Relevant Skills
  5. Objective

We will discuss each of them in details.

1. Personal Information

CV normally starts with some personal information such as your name, date of birth, address, phone number and email id. Personal details should not be written in bold or in big font size. Personal Information should always be written on the left hand side and the width of that section should not be more than 40% of the total page width.

Personal information should not include details about you health and family, it is just a section for some brief details about yourself.

2. Work Experiences ( if not a fresher )

This section displays your work history and its details such as name of the institution where you worked, what was your position there and how many years you worked there.

But, if you are a fresher who has just completed his studies then you can write about any internships that you’ve and write its details such as where you did the internship and how many months you did it. And if you are a candidate with no experience of work and Internship, then just write Fresher under work experience.

Please note – Whether you have work experience or you have an Internship experience, it is mandatory to have a relevant proof of that such as Internship certificate or Resignation Certificate.

3. Academic qualifications ( with year of completion & marks scored )
